Thermal protection for campers: an absolute winter essential!
In winter it’s never easy to keep the living space of your recreational vehicle warm and toasty, at the right level of climatic comfort, due to the harsh temperatures of the season that tend to be even lower in the most popular locations for Christmas holidays, namely ski resorts and the European Christmas markets. Thermal protection for campers is of fundamental importance as it assists the heating system, preventing heat loss and making the return to a closed space more agreeable.
The cabin in particular is the most sensitive part of the vehicle and is most likely to be exposed to the cold. The doors are made from metal sheets and are scarcely insulated, as are the dashboard and pedal area, which present difficulties in terms of internal heating. Larcos offers a variety of innovative solutions for climatic comfort in winter that are more than just dividers between the cabin and the back of the campervan, which due to the ever-growing popularity of campervans with rotating cabin seats are no longer used so much.
OVERCOAT TARPAULIN: TOP QUALITY THERMAL PROTECTION
The most complete and effective solution for every kind of recreational vehicle in the fight against the cold is a tarpaulin that can be placed on top of the cabin and that not only maintains the heat inside the campervan, but it also keeps the external cold from penetrating into the vehicle. For this reason, Larcos designed Overcoat, and here we list its main qualities:
IT KEEPS THE COLD OUT AT THE RIGHT TIME
Cold air should be blocked before it manages to enter the cabin and not after, because in this second case, other than the fact that the tarpaulin would be rather inefficient, there could be unpleasant consequences, such as frost on the inside of the windshield. For those who don’t want a full tarpaulin, Larcos also recommends thermal protection for windshield and side-windows. Further on these can be attached to a lower part, thus turning into full protection.
SUPERIOR QUALITY MATERIALS
The materials that Larcos uses to make Overcoat tarpaulins do not only have great insulation properties, but they are also designed to be able to resist changes in temperature and the freezing cold. In other words the material does not become stiff, and is therefore less likely to suffer damage or breakage. We no longer use PVC, a plastic material that is broadly used because of its low production costs but that is not a good insulant, letting cold air through.
IT SAVES MONEY AND IS EASY TO USE
Sufficiently protecting your campervan or caravan from thermal bridges allows you to save on heating costs, and Overcoat is the ideal and most practical solution. The assembly is simple and rapid, and is made possible by elastics that are held in the corners of the cabin doors. Upon dismounting, it easily fits into a rather small, 40x60cm sack.
OVERCOAT ARTIC AND PLUS: SPECIALLY TAILORED THERMAL PROTECTION
Larcos offers two different varieties of Overcoat. They are both top quality tarpaulins but they have different characteristics.
OVERCOAT ARTIC: state of the art tarpaulin. Specially tailored and fitted for every kind of cabin, with a tear-proof cloth on the outer side, it reflects sunlight (great for the summer months too) and an insulation thickness of 6mm. OVERCOAT ARTIC was tested for 40 days at North Cape, with temperatures reaching -35°.
OVERCOAT PLUS: although less effective at extreme temperatures, its quality is still excellent (100% cloth) and guarantees a winter insulation of about 15°C between the outside and inside of the vehicle.
